As this unfolds, his relationship with a co-worker named Dillon is sent into a frenzy when he learns of his involvement with his grandfather's disappearance. Flying words and fist-a-cuffs ensue. During his attempts to locate his grandfather, Carter finds himself at the center of something much more important: A group of regenerated ones threaten to eradicate billions of people, not realizing that their plan will destroy the earth. Amidst the excitement an unexpected alliance is formed, and the race to save mankind is underway. Lexington, Kentucky is a key city where the two opposing sides finally clash resulting in great destruction when the would-be mass murderers go face-to-face with a more powerful foe.
