This book introduces a number of Japanese individuals who successfully initiated some "meeting of the twain". There were two conditions for inclusion. Either those who introduced an original concept or accomplishment to Japan from overseas or else achieved success as ambassadors for their country while in foreign lands. It unveils the history of Japan from the Medieval period to the twenty first century through an approximately chronological list of people.
