Geformeerd na het uiteenvallen van *The Birthday Party* in 1982, hebben **Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds** inmiddels 16 studio-albums uitgebracht, beginnende met *'From Her To Eternity'* in 1984. Uitgegroeid tot één van de meest gelauwerde acts, staat de band bekend om zijn pionierende, vitale en moedige output. De invloed van zanger/songwriter **Nick Cave** en de zijnen reikt dan ook ver aangezien zowel *Johnny Cash, Metallica* als *The Arctic Monkeys* covers hebben opgenomen. *'Lovely Creatures'* is het eerste **Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds** best of album in 18 jaar en is een overzicht van zijn 30-jarige loopbaan. **Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds** hebben volledig de hand gehad in alle aspecten van deze release, inclusief het selecteren van de audio, de dvd beelden en het artwork.

De standaard CD versie bestaat uit een 2CD in een digisleeve inclusief 24 pagina's tellend booklet. De LP versie bestaat uit drie zwarte plakken heavyweight vinyl in een triple gatefold hoes en 3 inner sleeves. De Deluxe edition bevat een DVD sized case bound book pack met 3 CD's (45 tracks) + 1 DVD (speelduur ca. 120 minuten). De Super Deluxe edition zit verpakt in een 256pagina's tellend hardcover book en bevat o.a. 10 essays, circa 200 fotos & 8 inserts.
