In New York: Quincy Jones was so impressed after meeting Nana in '62 that he flew her to NYC to record this set of 12 standards originally released as ‘The Girl From Greece Sings’. Mouskouri's voice, though sweet, was throatier than most American ones. And she had the strength and range of an opera singer who could moan like a blues singer, "Love Me or Leave Me" is riveting for this. Sings Hadjidakis: In 1961, Mouskouri sang the Tragouda Hadjidakis soundtrack of a documentary about Greece in the German-language called "Weisse Rosen aus Athen" ("The White Rose of Athens") which became a million seller. It became one of her signature tunes and the start of her longtime cooperation with Tragouda Hadjidakis and multiple language singing career.
