Door haar tomeloze inspiratie heeft **POND** de grenzen van de psychedelische rock verlegd en met het album *'The Weather'* levert het viertal uit Perth haar muzikaal scherpste en meest gefocuste album tot nu toe af. *'The Weather'* bevat een aantal van de meest directe popmomenten van de band, terwijl ze haar abstracte kijk op en neiging tot experimenteren heeft behouden. De eerste single *'Sweep Me Off My Feet'* is daar een perfect voorbeeld van. Met zijn verrukkelijke zweem van romantiek en synthetische verfijning werpt het nummer een andere blik op de karakteristieke space-rock van de band. Of de epische opener 30.000 Megatons, dat opbouwt naar een haast hysterische synth-prog apotheose. Net als haar voorganger uit 2015 is ook *'The Weather'* geproduceerd door **Kevin Parker** in zijn studio in Perth. Maar waar *'Man, It Feels Like Space Again'* een rauwe garage-achtige pysch sound kende laat *'The Weather'* zich beluisteren als een ambitieuze muzikale reis in technicolour.

**Nicholas Allbrook**: “It’s a concept album, not completely about Perth, but focusing on all the weird contradictory things that make up a lot of colonial cities around the world. Laying out all the dark things underneath the shimmering exterior of cranes, development, money and white privilege. It’s not our place, but it is our place. British, but Australian, but not REAL Australian. On the edge of the world with a hell of a lot of fucked things defining our little city, still we try and live a wholesome respectful life, while being inherently disrespectful. At the end of all this confusion in our weird little white antipodean world, there’s the beach, purity and nature that brings us all together”.

Sinds de oprichting in 2008 wordt POND geroemd om haar onvoorspelbare live-shows,die een resultaat zijn van de punk en garagerock fundering waarop de band is gebouwd.
