Five more gripping radio dramatisations starring Maurice Denham as Maigret and Michael Gough as his creator Georges Simenon
Initially appearing in print in 1931, Commissaire Jules Maigret went on to feature in 76 novels and 28 short stories. His adventures have often been dramatised onscreen and on the radio, with actors including Michael Gambon, Rowan Atkinson and Nicholas Le Provost playing the Parisian detective.
In these radio plays, Maigret and Simenon reminisce about five of their greatest cases. A murder at the remote Three Widows Crossroads leaves Maigret baffled; a husband seems obviously guilty of his wife's murder - but Maigret is unsure; and Maigret pursues a deranged double murderer in a French provincial town. Plus, Maigret becomes involved in a political affair that could bring down the government, and investigates which of four femmes fatales may have killed William Brown.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4, the episodes included in this collection are Maigret at the Crossroads (26/06/1977); Maigret Has Doubts (03/07/1977); Maigret and the Madman of Bergerac (10/07/1977); Maigret and the Minister (17/07/1977) and Liberty Bar (24/071977).
