Omschrijving

""Libby, Andersonville, Florence: The Capture, Imprisonment, Escape And Rescue Of John Harrold. A Union Soldier"" is a memoir written by John Harrold in 1870. The book chronicles Harrold's experiences as a Union soldier during the American Civil War. Harrold was captured by Confederate forces and imprisoned in three different Confederate prison camps: Libby Prison in Richmond, Virginia; Andersonville Prison in Georgia; and Florence Prison in South Carolina. Harrold describes the harsh conditions of the prison camps, including overcrowding, lack of food and water, disease, and brutal treatment by Confederate guards. He also details his numerous attempts to escape from the camps, including a daring plan to tunnel out of Andersonville with a group of fellow prisoners. The book also recounts Harrold's eventual rescue by Union forces and his return home to his family. Throughout the book, Harrold provides insight into the daily life of a prisoner of war during the Civil War and the struggles faced by Union soldiers in Confederate prison camps. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
