William Hartley is a freelance writer and author based in Yorkshire. A former soldier, prison governor and HM Inspector of Probation, he is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a chartered geographer. He is currently finishing his second collection of short stories and a travel book. When not writing he works at Neville Hall, the home of the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers.
