Processes, procedures, and results of knowledge creation and practice are esteemed coequally, with particular attention to the architectural design and epistemologies of aesthetic practice and research.How do architects make use of existing knowledge when designing? And how do they make such efforts traceable? Dimensions Issue 05/2023, »Referencing in Architectural Design«, edited by Jan Silberberger and Kim Helmersen, explores the relationship between design work in its originality, and the wealth of knowledge and the cultural background which creative work necessarily draws on. Based on this, the contributors reflect on possible methods and practices to make this relationship visible and documentable, evolving around the question of how architects make use of existing knowledge when designing, and how they make such efforts traceable.
