De l'art à l'architecture du jardin

Après le succès de son premier livre «Dialogue avec des jardins méditerranéens»,
la paysagiste Brigitte Dematteis, qui exerce dans le Midi
de la France, consacre ce nouvel ouvrage à l'approche artistique du
projet tel qu'elle le conçoit avant l'élaboration technique du plan de
masse.

Il s'agit d'une façon très particulière d'aborder l'espace, puisque, derrière
cette présentation, on ne ressent à aucun moment le travail de la
paysagiste, mais tout simplement le plaisir de contempler ce que deviendra
le lieu qu'on lui a confié.

«Pour que l'avant-projet soit bien compris par le client, il me
faut saisir ses désirs et traduire ses mots en images. Comme
en peinture, c'est un langage ou se mêlent l'ombre et la lumière
pour évoquer une ambiance... et je deviens l'interprète
de ce tableau qui vibre et rayonne pour que mes clients perçoivent
enfin leur futur espace.»

After the success of her first book "Dialogue with the Mediterranean
gardens" landscaper Brigitte Dematteis, who applies her skills in the
South of France, The Midi as it is known, devotes her new endeavor
to the artistic approach of the project as she conceives it before elaborating
on the technical dimensions of the main scheme.

It is a very particular way of approaching the space, because after the
presentation the work of the landscaper should not be evident, but
most simply a way to imagine how the it will eventually develop.

In order for the client to understand this first draft, I must capture their
"wishes and translate their words into images. As in a painting,
it is a blend of lights and darks to evoque a mood.......I become
the interpreter of this vibrant and shining painting and the client
will be able to visualize their future space."
