English summary: The open letter "A Common Word Between Us and You" (Amman, 2007) is a unique example of Christian-Muslim dialogue. The central message behind ACW is that the future of the world depends on peace between Muslims and Christians". ACW aims to achieve political change through theological argumentation. An improvement in Islam-West relations can be indirectly achieved through a focus on improving Christian-Muslim relations. This study investigates the genesis and fruits of ACW, highlighting the importance of a specific historical and sociopolitical "Sitz im Leben" which decisively influenced its form and content. German description: Der offene Brief Ein gemeinsames Wort zwischen Uns und Euch (EWG) ist ein einmaliges Beispiel des internationalen christlich-muslimischen Dialoges. Die Kernbotschaft von EGW ist, dass Frieden zwischen ChristInnen und MuslimInnen fur die Zukunft der Welt massgeblich ist. EGW mochte politische Veranderung mittels theologische Argumentation erzielen, denn friedliche Islam-West-Beziehungen konnen durch eine Verbesserung von christlich-muslimischen-Verhaltnissen erreicht werden. Diese Studie untersucht - als erste dieser Art - die Entstehungs- und Wirkungsgeschichte von EGW und hebt die Wichtigkeit von spezifischen historischen und soziopolitischen Kontexten und Umstanden hervor, die seine Form und seinen Inhalt massgeblich beeinflusst haben.
