The period of slavery in Brazil marked its history with blood. Punishments, pain, and suffering were part of daily life in the colony for centuries. Black people were separated from their families, and children grew up in the harsh reality of forced labor. But the legacy of our African brothers and sisters to future generations was far greater. Examples of humility, religiosity, affection, and kindness also left their mark on Brazilian lands.
