A contemptible writer writes his masterpiece, a screenplay for Soviet Hollywood in a futuristic past in which Argentina and a good portion of the world have joined the USSR against the rest of the world: the capitalist countries with New York as their capital city. In this hypothetical socialist Argentina the betrayals are the same ones they have always been: political in appearance, but quite human in reality, more tied to people's characters than to the rules that they use to try to organize themselves.

Un escritor despreciable escribe la obra de su vida, un guión cinematográfico para el Hollywood soviético en un futuro-pasado donde Argentina y buena parte del mundo se han sumado a la Unión de Repúblicas Socialistas Soviéticas frente al resto de ese mismo mundo: los países capitalistas con sede en Nueva York. En esa hipotética Argentina Socialista las traiciones son las de siempre: en apariencia políticas, pero en realidad muy humanas, es decir, más ligadas al carácter de los hombres que a las reglas políticas con las que tratan de organizarse.
