The Hardy Boys are determined to prove themselves to their famous detective parents. The mystery involving the tower treasure is their first big case. They start gathering clues and hunting for the treasure, the location of which leaves even their parents baffled. If the treasure is not found, one of their best friends will have to drop out of school since it is his father who is accused of the crime. Can the Hardy Boys put the clues together, find the treasure, clear their friend's father, and receive the reward money?

This Respun Classics edition is a complete rewrite of the original book, in order to make it more accessible to modern audiences. To accomplish this, we modernize the language, remove offensive stereotypes, and make the texts more universal, allowing modern readers to connect better with the story itself. We do all this while ensuring the heart of the story remains intact.

the parents are now a detective team instead of only the father
one of the recurring police officers and another one-off character are women
scenes with odd language are updated (sorry, no more using the word "chum")
scenes with ideas that wouldn't fly anymore have been changed (no more fake mafia bomb placed by the boys in the fruit stand)
some old fashioned stereotypes have been tweaked (the recently arrived Italian immigrant is no longer a contractor)
