London, 1854. Thomas Wickham just wanted a night out of the cold. Instead, he got a job.

When a tasteless industrialist buys the house and threatens to fill it with cheap renovations and pink wallpaper, Thomas strikes a desperate deal. He becomes the house's "Spiritual Caretaker"-the living hands for a ghost who is fading away. Together, the street rat and the specter must face the ultimate threats: dry rot, a disastrous dinner party, and the terrifying realization that they might actually need each other.
