Life has been an adventure so far, and this might be the biggest yet. I'm going to be a mum!
But with a baby on the horizon and an unexpected curve ball, can my negative nature survive the craziest nine months of my life?
The Secret Diary of a Pregnant Bengali sees Helena face her greatest challenge yet, negotiating raging hormones, NCT classes, and a whole host of Bengali old wives' tales. Exploring race, identity and belonging, Halima Khatun's acerbic protagonist will have you laughing and crying.
Reader reviews of The Secret Diary of a Pregnant Bengali
1) This is the fifth book in the 'Secret Diary' series and I've thoroughly enjoyed reading them all. Halima has managed to write books that are funny and heartwarming, while also allowing the readers to share in the difficulties of second-generation immigrants negotiating the complexities of straddling two cultures. I hope there will be more books in the series.
2) Brilliant book. Read all the others so seriously hooked. Best true description of labour and how painful it is I've read for a long time. Can't wait for her next book.
