Varden has been Ella's Fae Guardian since she was born. He always kept an eye out on her, never realizing how badly her stepfamily treated her until they go too far, and hurt her. He will do everything in his power to make Ella happy, even if it means giving her his heart.

Excerpt:
Suddenly I felt lighter, knowing that the burden of my stepfamily was gone. "There is something else I want," I said, daring to dream of something more.
"Anything, Ella. Anything at all."
"I want you," I said and slowly pushed up on my tiptoes, closing the distance between our lips.
Varden tasted like the forest, and my dreams mixed in a delicious cocktail. His lips were soft but firm underneath mine, and after only a moment of hesitation, he took control of the kiss. He pulled me up in his arms, deepening the kiss. I opened my mouth in a gasp, and he immediately took advantage of it by plunging his tongue into my mouth. I moaned when our tongues met, and passion sparked.
This was my first kiss, so I had no possibility of comparing, but I just knew that this kiss was the start of something new, and amazing. Now that I was finally free, I would grab life with both hands and enjoy it how I wanted it, with Varden. 
He broke off the kiss, panting, holding my body flush against his. I could feel something hard digging in my stomach, and arousal coursed through me, imagining what would be underneath those layers of fabric.
