Two renowned historians address the issue of religious tolerance in the Dutch-ruled Brazil in the seventeenth century. The reputation of the Dutch for religious tolerance was never more justified than in their Brazilian colony, where Catholics and Jews coexisted peacefully alongside the Protestants, all enjoying freedom of religious belief and practice.
