John Toombs is 18 and in the wilds of the southern / northern boarder smuggling guns to the north, British soldiers are hunting him in the boggy landscape as he lays hidden and afraid. His mother knows nothing of his allegiances but his father stern and stoic pushes the boy to support the cause. His two brothers already dead at the hands of the British he is determined to live up to their beliefs. Forward in time Toombs ponders his next move against the constant enemy for a Free United Ireland. No matter what the cost. A true IRA commander for the cause of reunification. Back in Waterford, now Commander O'Donnell considers his final move against Toombs - but has some sympathy for the cause himself, but knows where his duty must lie. However one final blow knocks him out of his determination - his love only just surviving torture at Toombs hands, is summarily assassinated while walking home from work. O'Donnell distraught and infuriated, knows the rules have gone out the window - he will kill Toombs if he gets the chance. However the job still has to be done and their is a meeting in Cork Harbour of American sympathisers and IRA chiefs. A chance to bag a group all at once. MI5, the CIA and Special Branch join forces for the raid. Will Toombs be there?
