For instances, splitomicin and its analogues are known to be Sir2 inhibitors, vitamin E and trolox are well-known antioxidants and -transtocotrienoloic acid has antibacterial activity. Rhododaurichromanic acid-A shows potent anti-HIV activity and siccanin possesses strong antifungal activity. In addition to this 2-Substituted chromans (benzopyrans) are widely distributed in nature and many show signi cant biological activity. Chromans are also valued as targets in their own right and several biologically active synthetic chromans have been reported. Owing to the importance of the benzopyran framework, its construction has attracted considerable attention of researchers. This book reports the strategic design, synthesis, characterization and biological evaluation of chromene derivatives.
