This document, which was drafted by Cetim at the request of, and in collaboration with Artema (Association des Roulements, des Transmissions, de l'Étanchéité et de la Mécatronique Associée - Bearings, Transmissions, Sealing and Associated Mechatronics Association) member companies and FIM Energetique (French trade association for power generation equipment - Hydro branch) is a great example of what professional organisations can do for their members : provide technical information, showcase expertise, put technical reference materials in place, etc.

These specifications must enable :

turbine manufacturers to better define their needs, to use the same technical vocabulary as step-up gear manufacturers and electric generators ;

step-up gear and generator manufacturers to optimise design of their products as result of a better knowledge of the whole kinematic linkage.

Consequently, following these specifications should, to the benefit of the final user, allow small hydroelectric plants to have a longer life-time, and should improve relationships between industrial companies.
