Thomas Miller ex SAS officer from a working class background. He is in prison for manslaughter of a biker gang leader who he witnessed attacking a woman in the street. In defending her - he kills the biker by accident when the bikers head his the kerb of the road. Three years into a ten year sentence he has a visit from Sir Harold Pitch who offers him temporary freedom if he would agree to spy for the secret service. However his rough humour and quickness to violence does not sit well with his more privileged colleagues in the service. In an exciting violent adventure Miller finds new purpose in his life after the Army, his quick wit and sarcastic view of the system means he works alone. While Sir Harold tries to protect him along the way he also uses him to gain his own ends against the hidden enemy. Miller becomes a tool of destruction that turns out to have a sharp mind and telling understanding of the issues at stake.
