Invocations et offrandes aux dieux, constructions publiques et privées, honneurs décernés à des citoyens bienfaiteurs, épitaphes, inscriptions chrétiennes citant des versets bibliques ou commémorant la construction d’églises ne sont que quelques exemples de la variété des textes rassemblés dans ce premier volume du tome 16, consacré au Jebel al‑‘Arab actuel.

More than 300 Greek and Latin inscriptions from the 2nd century BC to the 8th century AD, illustrate the concerns and beliefs of the people of the ancient Auranitis. Invocations and offerings to the gods, public and private buildings, honours bestowed on beneficent citizens, epitaphs, Christian inscriptions quoting biblical verses or commemorating the construction of churches are but a few examples of the variety of texts collected in the first volume of the tome 16, which gathers the inscriptions from the present Jabal al-‘Arab.
