L'éthique sociale a pour fondement l'homme vivant en société. Elle s'élabore à partir de l'expérience et se communique dans un discours rationnel pour servir à l'échange entre les cultures. Elle englobe tous les aspects de la vie de l'homme en société, depuis la famille, la communauté de travail, la société civile, la société politique, jusqu'à la communauté internationale, face aux défis actuels de la globalisation, des fondamentalismes, et des nouvelles formes de violence.

If we are to live in peace, promote justice and understanding between men and their cultures, humanity needs a universal ethical code to guide men in their relations with others and within society. Such a practical behavioural code can only emerge from what all men have in common, and must respond to the aspirations of their inner being. The social ethic is based on man's life in society, elaborated by experience and communicated in rational terms, in order to serve as an exchange between cultures. It covers all the aspects of man's life in society, from the family, the working community, civil society, the political world... to the international community and today's challenges of globalisation, fundamentalisms, and new forms of violence.
