Tourism is deemed to be a prospective way for achieving economic growth around the world. Apart from its economic role, tourism has effects on the environment and the sociocultural settings of the host area. For a developing country like Bangladesh, tourism could open up a magnificent window of opportunity, if it is considered from a holistic perspective. So far, the sociocultural impact of tourism has received little attention in this country. Realizing this gap, this study is an attempt to find out the sociocultural impact of tourism with a special focus on the Saint Martin's Island,a booming tourist destination in Bangladesh.
