Alain Houziaux s'est converti à seize ans à la foi chrétienne. En écrivant ces billets, il a constamment pensé à ses parents agnostiques, à ses filles adolescentes, pour tenter de proposer des miettes autour de la question : Dieu est-il encore crédible Certains textes pourraient être des récits hassidiques, d'autres des « prières de toutes les heures » dans la ligne du Père Charles, d'autres s'appuient plus directement sur un texte biblique, d'autres sont des textes liturgiques pour l'office dominical. Ce qui frappe, c'est la variété de ton, de style et d'inspiration. Pourtant, peu à peu, il se dégage un fil conducteur, un « fil rouge » : la célébration du jour par les hommes de la nuit, la découverte de la perle par les enfants du sable, la confiance que tous les hommes ont leur visage éclairé par une autre lumière, l'espérance en un Dieu des choses impossibles pour les hommes à la dérive. Bref, l'expression d'une foi qui est « la ferme assurance des choses que l'on espère et la certitude de celles que l'on ne voit pas ».

When writing these lines, he constantly thought of his agnostic parents, his teenage daughters, as he tried to propose some fragments of an answer to the question: Is God still credible? Some of these could be Hassidic narratives, others ‘prayers for any time of the day' like those of Father Charles some are more directly based on a biblical text, others are liturgical verses for the dominical cult. But what strikes us is the great variety of tone, style and inspiration. Yet little by little, a leading thread is revealed, a ‘live wire': the day-time celebration by men of the night the discovery of the pearl by the sand children the confidence that all men's faces are illuminated by another light for men who are drifting - the hope in a God of impossible things. In short, the expression of a faith that is ‘the firm assurance of things we hope for and the certitude of those we cannot see.'
