This is a book about my life. What I went through as a child and adult. Through very deep valleys of the hard life itself I have gone. It is not a fun book. Then again, it wasn't a fun life. Marked by time, full of sadness and pain. I became who I am by not giving up. However hard it was: I stood up.
In her turbulent youth, Willeke Meijer ended up in an unprecedented horror scenario at the age of seven. She talks about how she was both mentally and physically abused by her mother and later "sold" by her to pedophiles. Her youth left Willeke with a life-size trauma. She ends up going from one violent relationship to another and cannot break the cycle of violence. When her eldest daughter was raped, Willeke has had enough of it. She does not want to risk this man ever touching her daughter again, so she kills him with many stabbings. She was sentenced to twelve years in prison for this. After her prison sentence, she was released and remarried. She lives with her husband in the Netherlands. She appeared in various Dutch television documentaries in the Netherlands, such as Met voorbedachte rade (Premeditated) from 1999 by Cristine van der Aar, Moordvrouwen (Murderous Women) from 2011 by Jessica Villerius and Ik heb iemand gedood (I have killed someone) by Filemon Wesselink from 2021.
