A A Milne was the creator of the beloved character Winnie the Pooh. He was a film writer, author, poet and fictional character creator for television. Before his success with Winnie the Pooh Milne was known for his plays. Mr. Pim Passes By was first published in 1919. Carraway Pim comes to visit Mardens' country house with a letter of introduction. Mr. Pim is an unassuming fellow who some how manages to cause trouble in this amusing farce. There is of course a beautiful young ward who wants to marry a man her guardian objects to. They must appeal is his charming wife for help. The scenes with the husband and wife are wonderful. Their old-fashioned chemistry is a delight to watch. Mr. Pim must then deliver the news that Olivia's ex-husband, the one everyone thought had died in Australia many years ago, is very much alive. Is Olivia a bigamist? Are they living in sin? Since this is a farce you can be assured everything will turn out all right in the end.
