The Montpellier area does not open up immediately. The contrasted landscapes ranging from coastal lagoons to the perfume of limestone garrigue confuse people who are in a hurry. To understand it, the visitor must examine with curiosity the medieval streets of the capital, wander through winegrowing villages, walk along the river Lez or beneath the evergreen oaks that grow inland. And - everywhere - feel the breath of the Mediterranean that inspires the population and draws it together.

El país de Montpellier no se descubre de prisa y corriendo. Desde el litoral sembrado de lagunas a la fragante garriga, su paisaje de contrastes desvia el camino del que lo recorre con premura. Para comprenderlo hay que deambular con mirada curiosa por las calles medievales de la capital, recorrer a buen paso sus pueblos bodegueros, seguir a pie el lecho del Lez o pasear a la sombra de los viejos robles del interior. Hay que sentir en cada rincón el soplo del Mediterráneo que inspira y que también une a sus habitantes.
