Prof. Nguyen Dang Hung had the chance to obtain a Belgian scholarship to go to Belgium in 1960 to undertake engineering studies at the University of Liège... In 1966, as an engineer-researcher, fully immersed in Prof. B. Fraeijs de Veubeke's variational and numerical techniques, he dedicated his first works to the duality between displacement and equilibrium finite element analysis in shell. Two years later, he became Ch. Massonnet's collaborator and began afterward Associate Professor in this Department of Mechanics of Materials and Structures, University of Liège, Belgium. Since 2004 he moved back to the Aerospace Department and there he became full Professor and Head of the Fracture Mechanics Division. Prof. Nguyen Dang Hung is author of more than two hundreds scientific papers, conference contributions, reports and several text books. In the end of his career (2005), his was decorated as "Grand Officer of the Crown Order of Belgium". Nguyen Dang Hung is not only a professor, a scientist but also somebody devoted to music and literature mostly poetry.
