L'ambition de cette collection consacrée à l'architecture publique est d'offrir une approche du langage architectural dans ses différentes facettes. Le regard d'un photographe, la perception d'un philosophe, l'analyse critique d'un historien, l'étude du contexte existant, le témoignage de l'utilisateur, l'attitude du maître de l'ouvrage sont autant de portes d'accès que chacun pourra emprunter selon son expérience ou son désir.

Témoigner par l'exemple d'interventions réussies nous a paru être le meilleur chemin à emprunter pour faire émerger les savoir-faire et créer un nouvel état d'esprit. L'ouverture du MAC's, le nouveau Musée des Arts Contemporains de la Communauté française sur le site du Grand-Hornu, nous offre l'occasion d'inaugurer cette série avec une œuvre magnifique qui doit sa réussite à l'extraordinaire capacité de synthèse dont ont fait preuve l'architecte Pierre Hebbelinck et son équipe.

This series dedicated to public architecture aims at offering an interpretation of architectural language in its various facets. The vision of a photographer, the perception of a philosopher, the critical analysis of a historian, the approach of the existing context, the experience of the user and the attitude of the contracting authority all provide openings which each of us can follow, according to our experience or wishes.

Demonstration through the examples of successful creations seemed to us to be the best approach, to highlight know-how and create a new state of mind. The opening of the MAC's, the new Museum of Contemporary Arts of the French Community of Belgium at the Grand-Hornu site, provides us with an opportunity to illustrate this initial volume with a magnificent achievement, which owes its success to the extraordinary capacity of the architect Pierre Hebbelinck and his team to capture the essence of what is presented.
