Luther

Martin Luther (1483-1546) fait partie des personnages historiques les plus connus, un de ceux dont l'influence sur le cours de la civilisation européenne, voire mondiale, a été considérable. Luther, en provoquant la Réformation, a en effet inauguré le protestantisme, un courant encore très vivant aujourd'hui. Ayant provoqué un bouleversement majeur dans la foi des chrétiens d'Occident, il a suscité aussi bien l'admiration que le rejet. Premier Allemand à avoir eu un tel rôle dans l'histoire, il a été récupéré par tous les courants, du XVI^e siècle à nos jours. Faire une biographie historique de Luther, c'est donc tenter de retrouver le Luther du XVI^e siècle aussi bien que tous ceux qui ont été imaginés, reconstitués, brandis ou rejetés, jusqu'à notre époque, en recourant aux textes, aux images et même au cinéma.
