In the first story, Adam Keller was born a rancher, but heavy combat in Afghanistan took him away from that and when he had a chance to regain some of the same satisfaction he had on the ranch, he grabbed it…no matter the cost. Beginning a relationship with a lie was usually a recipe for disaster and for him it was like fighting out of a dark hole.
The second story is about a wounded vet trying to recover his memory of the day, he carried a letter from one of his comrades. It was the letter that many men write before going into action and, in this case, the writer did not return. Having the blood-stained letter weighed heavily on him and when he was released he went searching for her in vain. It was a chance meeting that brought her into his life, but it was too late…he was already in love with her. With the help of a persistent doctor and a reluctant woman, he managed to fight through the fog of the day that was destroying his life.
