Le présent ouvrage est un manuel d'histoire de la logique. Les auteurs y
soutiennent en effet que les développements fulgurants de la logique, grâce à la
mathématisation, ne doivent pas nous dispenser de décrypter son histoire. Ils
étudient ainsi la logique classique dans ses deux variantes, aristotélicienne et
stoïcienne. La première porte sur le contenu ou les termes de la proposition : elle
est dite intrapropositionnelle. À rebours, la seconde est dite interpropositionnelle,
puisqu'elle se borne à lier les propositions entre elles.

Un deuxième volume se penchera sur la logique moderne.

This is a history of logic manual. In the book, the authors actually hold that the
dazzling development of logic, through mathematization, should not spare us
the necessity of deciphering its history. Thus, they study classical logic in its two
variants: Aristotelian and Stoic. The first deals with the content or the terms of
the proposition: it is referred to as intrapropositional. Conversely, the second is
called interpropositional, since it merely links the propositions to one another.

A second volume will focus on modern logic.
