Lettrist corpus est un gigantesque chantier, sans précédent, dont l'ambition est de rendre compte de l'activité éditoriale du mouvement d'avant-garde le plus long et prolifique de l'histoire de l'art : le Lettrisme.
Initié en 1946 par Isidore Isou (1925-2007) avec l'aide de Gabriel Pomerand et accueillant des personnalités telles que François Dufrêne (qui rejoindra les Nouveaux Réalistes), Gil J Wolman, Jean-Louis Brau, Maurice Lemaître, Guy Debord (qui fondera l'Internationale Situationniste) - ou encore Jacques Spacagna, Aude Jessemin, Roberto Altmann, Roland Sabatier, Alain Satié, Alain de Latour, Maggy Mauritz, François Poyet, Jean-Paul Curtay, Broutin... -, le Lettrisme est ce mouvement fascinant de création généralisée, qui tenta de bouleverser aussi bien la poésie que les arts plastiques, le cinéma, le théâtre, l'économie, le roman, les sciences ou la philosophie.
Cet ouvrage contourne les problèmes de rareté et de dispersion de ces ephemera afin de révéler à un public nouveau et curieux l'importance de cette avant-garde oubliée, chaînon manquant entre dadaïsme, surréalisme et poésies sonore ou concrète, art conceptuel et Internationale Situationniste. Cette base de données, véritable « mine d'or » pour la pensée, rend enfin accessibles les concepts originaux et inédits des lettristes, où l'art de l'insulte se mêle aux propositions de bouleversement concret de la société, dans ses dimensions poétiques, plastiques, politiques et utopiques.

Launched by Isidore Isou ( 1925-2007)with the help of Gabriel Pomerand in 1946 and soon, introducing figures such as François Dufrêne (who went on to join the Nouveaux Réalistes), Gil J Wolman, Jean-Louis Brau, Maurice Lemaître and Guy Debord (who went on to found the Situationist International) - as well as Jacques Spacagna, Aude Jessemin, Roberto Altmann, Roland Sabatier, Alain Satié, Alain de Latour, Maggy Mauritz, François Poyet, Jean- Paul Curtay, Broutin... - Lettrism was a fascinating movement of generalised creation that attempted to revolutionise poetry, visual art, cinema, theatre, economics, the novel, science and philosophy.
This book overcomes the problems of scarcity and dispersal of these ephemera to reveal to a new and curious public the importance of this forgotten avant-garde, the missing link between Dadaism, Surrealism and sound or concrete poetry, conceptual art and the Situationist International. This database, a veritable « gold mine » for thought, finally makes accessible the original and unpublished concepts of the Lettrists, where the art of the insult mingles with proposals for the concrete upheaval of society, in its poetic, artistic, political and utopian dimensions.
