Jackson wrote about the impact of government actions on Native Americans in her history book, ‘A Century of Dishonour’. While her novel, ‘Romona’ was a fictionalised account of the federal government's mistreatment of Native American people in Southern California following the Mexican-American War, and the work successfully attracted attention to Jackson’s cause.
