On a beaucoup parlé d'un renouveau patristique et d'un renouveau biblique au XXe siècle, mais l'ampleur du renouveau trinitaire n'a pas encore été élucidée. Telle est la tâche poursuivie dans cet ouvrage, à la suite du précédent publié dans la même collection : « Les Sources du renouveau de la théologie trinitaire au XXe siècle » (« Cogitatio fidei », n° 266). De nombreux théologiens qualifiés procèdent ici à l'examen minutieux des oeuvres emblématiques dans lesquelles s'incarne le renouveau trinitaire au siècle dernier. La théologie trinitaire ne se donne plus sous la forme d'une doctrine et d'une langue univoques. Elle s'est très largement délestée de son lien au genre littéraire du manuel, pour s'épanouir dans des oeuvres qui portent la marque de leurs auteurs et des combats intellectuels qu'ils ont menés. Ce phénomène a provoqué non pas tant un éclatement qu'une extrême diversification des points de vue, la doctrine trinitaire déclinant désormais ses potentialités selon les requêtes suscitées par des questionnements qui ne l'avaient que partiellement ou jamais atteinte. Cet état de fait se vérifie si l'on parcourt l'arc que dessine le présent volume, allant des questions propres à la théologie spirituelle jusqu'aux recherches contemporaines en quête d'une grammaire capable de faire naître une nouvelle ontologie. L'ensemble des contributions de l'ouvrage rassemble, en ce deuxième volume, les fruits d'un programme triennal de recherche, mené à l'initiative d'enseignants-chercheurs de l'Institut catholique de Paris. Il demeure en attente d'une troisième étape qui révélera les effets du renouveau trinitaire dans l'existence et les pratiques chrétiennes.

There was a great deal of talk about patristic revival and Biblical revival in the 20th century, but the extent of Trinitarian revival has not yet been elucidated. That is what this book aims to do, following, in the same collection, ‘Les Sources du renouveau de la théologie trinitaire au XXe siècle' (Cogitatio fidei, n° 266). In this second volume, many qualified theologians provide meticulous studies of emblematic works in which the Trinitarian revival was embodied during the last century. Trinitarian theology is no longer presented in the form of a univocal doctrine and language. It has been widely freed of its link to the literary textbook genre, and developed in works that bear the stamp of their authors and their intellectual combats. This phenomenon has provoked not so much a fragmentation as an extreme diversification of viewpoints, since the Trinitarian doctrine now deploys its potential in response to requests emanating from issues it had only partly or never reached before. This fact can be observed by studying the span of the present volume - from questions specific to spiritual theology to contemporary research into a grammar capable of bringing forth a new onthology. The contributions assembled here in this second volume are the fruit of a three-year programme of research conducted by teachers/researchers of the Catholic Institute in Paris. A third volume, which will reveal the effects of the Trinitarian revival in Christian life and practice, is awaited.
