Dans la longue histoire des théories et des pratiques chrétiennes face à la sexualité, le dernier quart de siècle, marqué par l'irruption du fléau du sida et par de rapides évolutions des moeurs, soulève des questions neuves. Tel est l'horizon des contributions de Lytta Basset, pasteur et psychanalyste en Suisse ; d'Éric Fassin, sociologue, de Paris ; de Timothy Radcliffe, ancien Maître de l'ordre des Dominicains, d'Oxford. Autour de leurs textes se déploient discussions, prises de positions et témoignages. L'ensemble ayant choisi de se limiter au monde occidental, un point de vue africain vient en écho, ouvrant d'autres perspectives. Ce livre est né d'un colloque tenu en 2006 à La Villette, à Paris, organisé par Chrétiens & sida : cette association oecuménique, forte de quinze années de confrontation avec l'épidémie, désirait pousser ainsi la réflexion et la proposer à un large public. Elle n'offre pas ici quelque synthèse bien bouclée, mais une pensée en travail, à l'écoute de l'Évangile et de la tradition des Églises, comme de ce qui bouillonne en notre temps et que révèle de façon aiguë le sida, avec souvent beaucoup de souffrance et parfois beaucoup de sainteté. -- In the long history of Christian theories and practices with regard to sexuality, the past quarter of a century, marked by the scourge of AIDS and by a rapid evolution in morals, raises new questions. In this perspective are inscribed the contributions by Lytta Basset, pastor and psychoanalyst in Switzerland; Eric Fassin, sociologist from Paris; and Timothy Radcliffe from Oxford, former Master of the Dominican Order. Around their texts are discussions, statements of opinion and testimonies. As the contributors have elected to limit themselves to the problem in the West, an African viewpoint is appended, opening up other perspectives. This book is the fruit of a colloquium held in 2006 at La Villette in Paris, organised by Chrétiens & Sida, an ecumenical association with fifteen years' experience of dealing with the epidemic. They wished to further reflection on the subject and to reach a wider public. What is presented here is not some well-rounded synthesis, but thinking in action, attentive to the Gospel and Church Tradition as to all that is going on in our times, revealing AIDS in sharp focus, often with great suffering; often with great holiness.
