L'École française d'Extrême-Orient : 120 ans de recherches en Asie

Actes du colloque organisé par l'École française d'Extrême-Orient et l'Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres, le 3 décembre 2021

Le 3 décembre 2021, l'École française d'Extrême-Orient (EFEO) a célébré ses 120 ans avec l'Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres, qui l'a accueillie dans ses murs en cette occasion solennelle. Huit communications ont apporté un éclairage sur les grandes disciplines de recherche qui ont forgé l'EFEO : la naissance de la sinologie à l'aube du XX^e siècle ; l'histoire du sivaïsme à travers les collections des manuscrits de Pondichéry ; les recherches sur les religions et l'histoire du Japon ; le renouvellement des études épigraphiques dans le monde indien et indianisé, des pionniers à aujourd'hui ; l'ouverture aux phénomènes contemporains et l'apport des nouvelles technologies, comme le LiDAR, à l'archéologie en Asie du Sud-Est, qui montrent le renouvellement des champs de recherches ; l'histoire de l'EFEO en Inde, avec son installation à Pondichéry dans les années 1950 ; l'ancrage de l'EFEO dans le XXI^e siècle et sa place dans l'espace européen de la recherche.

On December 3, 2021, the École française d'Extrême-Orient (EFEO) celebrated its 120th anniversary with the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres. Eight papers shed light on the major research disciplines that have forged the EFEO : the birth of Sinology at the dawn of the twentieth century ; the history of Sivaism through the collections of manuscripts in Pondicherry ; research on the religions and history of Japan ; the renewal of epigraphic studies in the Indian and Indianized world, from the pioneers to today ; the beginning of studies in contemporary phenomena and the contribution of new technologies, such as LiDAR, to archeology in Southeast Asia, highlighting the renewal of research ; the history of the EFEO in India, with its establishment in Pondicherry in the 1950s ; and anchoring the EFEO in the twenty-first century and its place in the European research area.
