Le Mans Classic

Le Mans Classic, c'est simple : il s'agit de convier les gentils collectionneurs à rassembler les voitures qui ont couru par le passé les 24 Heures du Mans, de les organiser par périodes, peut-être de courir un peu. Idée simple, idée gentille ! On Imagine un beau musée en plein air... Après neuf éditions biennales, cela nous donne un événement mondial, le rassemblement géant de six-cents fauves grondants, rutilants, vrombissants, qui se livrent à des empoignades comme en leurs plus beaux jours.

Laurent Nivalle a tâché de coincer derrière son objectif ces taches de couleurs vertigineuses et il semble bien qu'il y est parvenu. Robert Puyal, qui a vu grandir l'événement depuis 2002, a essayé d'en capter l'esprit sans se laisser assourdir. Leur livre se lit comme un spectacle !

In fact, Le Mans Classic is simplicity itself. It's just a question of bringing together collectors and assembling the cars that raced in the Le Mans 24 Hours in the past, then dividing them up into different eras and doing a bit of racing : a simple, good idea. It's like imagining a quiet and beautiful museum in the open air. But... Nine Le Mans Classics held on a biennial basis have resulted in a worldwide event, a huge assembly of GOO growling, shining, roaring cars, which do battle on the track as they did in their halcyon years.

Laurent Nivalle has tried to catch these head-spinning flashes of colour in his lens and seems to have done a good job. Robert Puyal, who has seen the event grow since 2002, has attempted to capture its spirit without being deafened ! Read their book as if you're watching a colourful movie !
