Les années 1945-1975 représentent un sommet dans les échanges culturels franco-grecs, en dépit - ou peut-être justement à cause - des crises successives que connaît la Grèce durant cette période, depuis la guerre civile (1944-1949) jusqu'à la dictature militaire (1967-1974). Le Paris de l'après-guerre exerce encore un attrait incontesté sur les élites intellectuelles et artistiques grecques, qui y trouvent à la fois un refuge contre l'arbitraire qui règne dans leur pays et une ouverture sur la modernité. La Grèce est à Paris : des architectes grecs y font carrière, souvent en passant par l'atelier de Le Corbusier, une nouvelle génération d'artistes y expose, tandis que la traduction de la littérature grecque en français connaît un essor sans précédent. Mais le voyage se fait dans les deux sens, et la France est aussi en Grèce, à travers l'influence exercée par les idées, aussi bien dans le domaine artistique que dans celui des lettres et de la philosophie. So, Greece came to Paris, a place where a new generation of artists got a chance to show their work, where Greek architects made a name for themselves, often starting off with a job in Le Corbusier's studio, and where Greek literature was translated Into French like never before. However, this was a journey in both directions, and France also went to Greece, where French ideas flourished, In art, literature and philosophy. The names of the people who undertook this journey back and forth, from one shore of the Mediterranean to the other, include Candilis, Dubuisson, Xenakis, Restany, Kessanlis, Aragon, Ritsos, Éluard, Kazantzakis, Sartre, Vassilikos, Milliex and many others.
