Le protestantisme n'a-t-il pas lui aussi son mot à dire dans cette discussion cruciale pour l'avenir de nos sociétés démocratiques et de la laïcité elle-même ? La gauche et la droite existent bel et bien, mais ne sont pas des positions figées et fermées ; le christianisme est clairement du côté des plus vulnérables et des plus pauvres, la gauche n'ayant certes pas le monopole de la solidarité et de la justice. This original and confrontational essay unravels the Gordian knots that prevent us from thinking and believing freely. The Left and the Right exist, of course; but they are not rigid and intransigent positions; Christianity is clearly on the side of the most vulnerable and poor; but the Left certainly doesn't have a monopoly on solidarity and justice. It is important to tackle such delicate and controversial issues as gay marriage, and euthanasia, in a forthright and impartial manner. The author discusses Roman texts as well as the ideas, nearer to us, of Vincent Peillon and Judith Butler. A liberated Christianity is the antithesis of politically or ethically correct thinking.
