Le livre « La Foi chrétienne » est né de conférences faites par le P. Henri de Lubac à des jésuites aumôniers de jeunesse réunis à Chantilly par le P. Blaise Arminjon en 1959. C'est seulement après le Concile que le P. de Lubac parvint à achever ce travail. En mettant en lumière la structure trinitaire du symbole des apôtres, il réfléchit à ce qu'est l'acte de foi chrétien. En lui s'exprime l'élan de l'être humain et se traduit sa liberté la plus grande. Henri de Lubac espère ainsi contribuer à faire face à la « crise de la foi » qu'il diagnostiquait, laquelle réside dans une perte de goût pour la révélation de la charité divine. Le pasteur luthérien Peter Bexell, qui présente cette réédition de « La Foi chrétienne », est responsable de la formation dans le diocèse de Vâxjô (Suède) et enseigne la théologie sacramentaire à l'université d'Uppsala. Il a publié une thèse magistrale sur l'ecclésiologie de Lubac. Il précise ici la genèse du livre et la maturation de la réflexion d'Henri de Lubac que les textes donnés en annexe permettent de suivre et dégage ainsi la portée oecuménique de cet ouvrage.

This book is the fruit of conferences given by Father Henri de Lubac to Jesuit chaplains working with the young, organized in Chantilly by Father Blaise Arminjon in 1959. It was only after the Council that Father de Lubac managed to finish this work. By highlighting the Trinitarian structure of the symbol of the apostles, he is reflecting on the act of Christian faith, which expresses the momentum of the human being and his greatest form of freedom. In so doing, Henri de Lubac hopes to help confront the ‘crisis in faith' which he perceived as the result of a lack of interest for the revelation of divine charity. The Lutherian Reverend Peter Bexell, who presents this new edition of ‘La Foi chrétienne', is responsable for training in the diocese of Vâxjô (Sweden) and teaches sacramental theology at the University of Uppsala. His Masters thesis on the ecclesiology of Lubac was published. Here, he insists upon the genesis of the work and the maturation of Henri de Lubac's reflection, which the texts in the appendix allow us to follow, so gleaning the ecumenical influence of the book.
