Césaire d'Arles (470-542), Père latin le plus prolifique après Augustin (354-430), s'est inspiré de son prédécesseur au point que jusqu'à un passé récent, plus de 127 sermons sur 238 de Césaire d'Arles lui étaient attribués. Leurs proximités sont ici abordées dans douze communications d'universitaires et chercheurs de cinq pays différents. Elles mettent en relief quelques-uns des apports théologiques, pastoraux et monastiques initiés par Césaire d'Arles et montrent que les réorientations effectuées par Cesaire d'Arles « ont été l'oeuvre de son propre effort personnel de rééquilibrage, du fait de sa lucidité pastorale ». Le Tome V (projet d'édition 2022) a pour thème « Les influences des Pères de l'Église » ainsi que de penseurs laïcs du monde latin, grec et syriaque du II^e au V^e siècle, présents dans l'oeuvre de Césaire d'Arles.

Caesarius of Arles (470-542), the most prolific Latin Father after Augustine (354-430), drew inspiration from his predecessor. So much so that until recently, more than 127 of Caesarius' 238 sermons were attributed to him. Their proximities are discussed here in twelve papers by scholars and researchers from five different countries. They highlight some of the theological, pastoral and monastic contributions initiated by Caesarius of Arles and show that the reorientations made by Caesarius of Arles « were the fruit of his own rebalancing efforts, thanks to his pastoral lucidity. Volume V (planned for 2022) has as its theme « The Influences of the Fathers of the Church » and of major secular philosophers of the Latin, Greek and Syriac world from the second to the fifth century, who are present in the works of Caesarius of Arles.
