It examines the history of Hungary's attempts to establish and carry on trade relations with the Soviet Union during the interwar years. For Hungary, economic relations were motivated by the need for raw materials for its industries and a market for its finished industrial products. For the Soviet Union economic ties with Hungary were based on political considerations.
