In it, Stephen Rippon reveals the techniques that can and have been used to analyse the history of the countryside, accompanied by a series of case studies. The book is a guide to local and regional variation in the countryside and the approaches and methods used to reach an understanding of it, as well as a discussion of how and why certain patterns have emerged.
