The present study was designed to observe the histopathological changes in liver of male rabbits due to diabetes. The investigation was carried out on 40 male rabbits and divided into 5 groups having 8 animals in each group as; Normal control, diabetic control, metformin, metformin in combination with turmeric and metformin in combination with cinnamon. Alloxan was injected according to body weight to induce diabetes. Metformin was given 50mg/kg, turmeric and cinnamon were given 100mg/kg on alternate days for two weeks (6 doses).After dissection liver and kidney were processed and stained with hematoxyline and eosine for histological study. Hepatic histological changes in diabetic animals were dearrangement of hepatic cords ,disorganization of hepatc laminae etc. Renal changes included disrupted arrangement of glomerulus, disorganization of Bowman's capsule,expansion of mesangial cells and damaged structure of renal tubules and collecting ducts were observed. Diabetic animals after treatment with metformin in combination with turmeric and cinnamon showed more recovery as compared to metformin alone and structure of liver and kidney showed m.ore resemblance with normal tissues.
