Hiroshige (1797-1858) est l'un des plus grands maîtres de l'estampe japonaise. Hiroshige (1797-1858) is one of the greatest masters of Japanese printmaking. He distinguishes himself by a poetic approach to nature: his landscapes, although realistic, are always tinged with dreaminess thanks to the way the artist plays with light, color gradations and atmospheric rendering. Genre scenes are usually in the foreground, immersing us in the daily life of the Japanese in the 19th century. Hiroshige's art will undoubtedly mark the history of art, not only by the influence he had on the Impressionists, but also by the fascination he still exerts today.
