GATE(WAY)S presents artists who explore the changing conditions of a networked world that is being increasingly influenced by media. Their works reflect the digital turn by demonstrating how art behaves in todays global communications networks, as well as how it creates access to connectivity and informationor challenges them. In the process, existing technologies are used as social, community-building instruments and tools. The practice of art is regarded as a chance to make suppressed knowledge visible, as a gateway to information. Through very different artistic formatsfrom screen-based installations to sculptural environments, the use of mobile technologies, sound walks, and morethe artists inquire into the impact an increasingly networked world will make on our actions, our perception, and our experience of the world.
