«Fundamentum» is meant to be more than just a formulary. Therefore, many facts are presented as formulae as well as in words. Most pages are designed as self-contained units in three columns with many illustrations and explanatory text. The search for topics is facilitated by an extensive index. Cross references allow links not only within a subject but also between mathematics and physics.
In order to address younger students as well, the mathematics part of the «Fundamentum» is presented in two parts. Part 1 comprises the «elementary» mathematics that corresponds to the syllabus until the end of the 10th grade. In this part the presentation is more detailed. Topics such as «terminology of arithmetical operations» or «equivalence transformations of equations and inequalities» have been included. In part 2 the content complies with the requirements for the «Matura im Grundlagenfach». Some topics that go beyond are included. The physics part is structured systematically. It comprises the classic sections of mechanics, thermodynamics, geometrical optics, electrodynamics and modern physics.
